Imagine your name was just announce as an award winner and you’re standing on stage with your award. What would you say? Would you be speechless?
I sat there waiting for my category to come up. I had my phone ready to video the announcement. I knew there were 16 categories and one by one they moved through them. The longer it took the more nervous I got.
Last! It’s the last category!
I start videoing the host announce the finalists. Slowly working his way down the list and my name is next to last. The farther down the list he reads the more my hands shake.
Time to open the envelope………..
“And the Author Academy Award winner in the Self-Help category is….Mark Schinnerer.”
The air felt like it was immediately sucked out of the room. I made my way to the stage – speechless – and didn’t know what to say. Yes, I really should have planned that better! My friend Joel said “You’ll find the words”.
Have you ever wanted something so bad you’d do whatever it took to get it?
I wanted this. The first ever global Author Academy Award in the Self-Help category.
The first, and hardest, step was to write and publish my book The Success Grower. It had a great cover, great inside layout, high quality endorsements and actionable content.
Then I needed to get it nominated and create the PR and recognition on social media. Once it was chosen as a finalist, there was more PR and social media promotion.
And lastly, a quality speech about the book.
If you want to win, you have to do the work.
What do you want to win at? What do you secretly say yourself ‘If only I could……’?
First, you need to be aware and open to the opportunities to win at.
Second, you need to create and follow a plan to get it.
Third, you need to have someone you trust guide you in the process.
I don’t know what you want to win at in your life.
Want to write and publish a book? Want to get a promotion? Want to start your own business? Want to be able to pay for your kids college? Want to have more free time with your family? Want to get out of debt? Want to get a better job? Want to have more influence?
I can keep asking questions, but you’re the one who has to answer.
So start by asking yourself, “What do I really want in………………………..?”
When you find the answer that makes your stomach knot because you really, really want it but don’t have it then contact me and we’ll find the path for you to get there.
