That’s the difference between failure and success.
In 1961, President Kennedy took the step of setting a goal to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade. He took the step of creating the vision of what success would look like that included the challenges, hardships, and technological advances it would take to accomplish that goal.
And by taking that one step of setting an exciting, risky and time-constrained goal, he ignited the imagination and determination of a nation that needed an achievement to pursue what would fuel the desire to be “first”. He didn’t know how we were going to do it, neither did the Congress who funded the vision nor the scientists who had to make it happen.
BECAUSE IT HAD NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE!
And that’s all it takes…one small step.
It doesn’t matter if it’s never been done. If your dream is big enough, your determination strong enough, and your daily effort is consistent, you’ll eventually reach your goal.
Everything in this world was at one time an idea…a dream…that someone committed to pursuing.
Take the phone or computer you’re reading this on. In 1961, they didn’t exist either. Computers didn’t come into mainstream use until the 1980’s. And the phone you’re holding in your hand? The iPhone became a reality in 2007…because Steve Jobs had a dream and a vision and set a goal to make it happen.
You have the same power of vision and dreams that President Kennedy and Steve Jobs had. But the only difference may be the size of your dream and your determination to make it so.
On this 50th anniversary of putting a man on the moon, what big dream or vision do you have? Want to create a new product or start your own business? To become financially independent, live wherever you want, travel whenever you want, and have the home of your dreams? Or maybe it’s to put your kids through college or get out of debt or maybe lose weight and finally get in shape.
